Interview with Bernaba

About Bernarda study abroad project

What do you want to study and why?

I want to study TEFL which is my specialty at the Teacher Training School. But, if I can study something else such as history and culture, sustainable development, arts, I have no objection. I think it is all about me and the things which have fascinated me since childhood like being a teacher, having a higher level of education, being an artist, or even a writer. Moreover, I believe that it is only the torch of hope and grit that is still nudging me towards achieving more.

Where are you from and where do you want to go?

I am from Algeria, and I want to study abroad no matter where exactly, in Europe or in Asia .. What I really like in Algeria is its history, geography, simplicity in lifestyle, traditions and social diversity which enriches its culture and civilization. However, I cannot bear all the illnesses of the political and the governmental systems which have burdened the Algerians’ lives and made it a nightmare with all the frustrations, deprivations, low quality of the educational system, lack of freedom, lack of opportunities, the humiliation of the elite and its marginalization. Simply, I am looking for a new life full of success and relief far from all the offenses of poor governance.

Tell us more about you

what do you enjoy doing when you have spare time?

Usually, I prefer spending my spare time with friends chatting and playing games in English at university because I am the leader of an English Club, so I have done a lot to create such a family-like space gathering all those who are interested in self-confidence, sustainable development, leadership, learning English the easy way, being part of other cultural activities such as theatrical plays in different languages, singing or even reading .

Is there a personality trait about you that you are proud of?

I am a sociable person and I do not regret it because it made me see diversity in peoples views, tastes, perspectives, preferences, likes, dislikes, interests …and much more.It also helped be a good listener, most of my friends whenever they have a certain problem or they do not feel at ease, they would come and prefer to talk to me saying that it makes them feel much better as I am also a good secret holder.

A message for the higher education institutions

If there is anything you’d like to say to Universities who will see your profile?

Let me enter to learn, and let me leave go achieved.
Give me hope
Give me a rebirth
Get your grants doubled.

If you can go abroad with a friend?

I would like to go with my sister since she has always been an excellent role model for me and because all the odds have been stuck against her and me, but she kept encouraging me and nudging herself with an unshakable faith and willpower. She has always been a good friend to me and she never lets me down.
